This annual Conference and expo is dedicated to primary care nurses across the UK and is complemented by an exhibition featuring key charities, product suppliers, educational institutes, services to primary care and recruitment specialists. The Conference aim is to give Primary Care Nursing professionals the opportunity to gain knowledge of current & future professional clinical issues from high profile, influential speakers from across the health care sector
The key note speaker this year was Mrs Jinna Brownlees, Professional Member to the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for Nursing and Midwifery. Jinna who hails from Texas shared her nursing experiences and advised Nurses especially in the current turbulent times to be true to their core principles.
The conference included talks from Andrew Dougal, Chief Executive of NI Chest Heart & Stroke Association on Supporting Patients with Long Term Heart Conditions and Brendan Heaney, Policy & Public Affairs Manager, Diabetes UK on the recent policy changes affecting driving regulations and Diabetics. After lunch and a chance to take in the conference exhibition and catch up with colleagues from across General Practice in NI we had a talk from Florence Mitchell, Nurse lecturer QUB, who spoke on the very topical subject of tackling childhood obesity and Frankie O’Keane, Clinical Services Co- Ordinator with the NI Kidney Research Fund who brought us up to date on the issue of Chronic Kidney Disease in the Community.
