Congratulations to our sister network NICTN and…

Good luck to one of the nursing teams in the Cancer Centre based at Belfast City Hospital site which has been shortlisted for a RCNi Nurse Award, the professions top accolade for nursing excellence.

The NI Cancer Trials Network (NICTN) in Northern Ireland is a finalist in the Excellence in Cancer Research category , and the award, sponsored by Cancer Research UK, recognises role that clinical research nurses play in helping to discover new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve patient outcomes.

Lead clinical research nurse Eileen Dillon says: ‘As a team we are absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for the excellence in cancer research award.  We are working towards improving our cancer patients’ outcomes in Northern Ireland and we would like to acknowledge everyone who has taken part in cancer clinical research as we couldn’t do this critical work without them. ’

The final results will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 6, so fingers crossed!
